At Community Catalysts, we believe that no act of kindness is too small and that anyone—at any age!—can make a real impact. Whether you’re a child with a big heart and a creative fundraising idea or an adult with time, resources, or skills to share, there’s always a way to contribute to meaningful change.
Take Ivy Holmes, for example. Ivy is a fourth-grader who has proven, time and again, that generosity knows no age limit.
For the second year in a row, Ivy has donated to Community Catalysts, raising over $300 by collecting cans and bottles and selling her handmade jewelry. Inspired by her compassion and dedication, her parents, Amy and Tom Holmes, matched her donation—doubling the impact for our mission!
And Ivy’s efforts don’t stop there. Earlier this year, she took it upon herself to raise money for Bethel Suites, our transitional housing program, by collecting and returning cans in her neighborhood. When she attended Bethel Suites’ grand opening, she made a second donation—one that we used to purchase a chest freezer for our guests. This freezer now helps store nutritious meals, ensuring that no one in our care goes hungry.
Ivy’s small yet mighty efforts remind us all that meaningful change often starts with a single thoughtful action.
While Ivy’s story is a beautiful example of youthful generosity, she isn't alone in making a difference! Across our community, people of all ages are stepping up to support our work.
Some donate their time, volunteering to beautify the landscaping and maintain facility grounds for the people transitioning out of homelessness at our transitional housing projects. Others contribute financially, helping us expand and sustain our work. Many people simply spread the word, raising awareness about the urgent need for safe, stable housing.
The moral of the story? No matter your age or circumstances, know that YOU have the power to create change! Whether you’re five, fifty, or ninety-five, there’s a place for YOU in this movement!
