# Community Catalysts

> Community Catalysts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit in Howell, Michigan that serves as a catalyst for attainable housing. It funds projects, consults, and partners with developers, municipalities, employers and local organizations so seniors, veterans, neighbors leaving homelessness, and working families across Livingston County and the Midwest have a home they can afford. Community Catalysts does not build homes itself — its affiliated development company, CC Development Company, acquires, finances and builds, and Community Catalysts participates in every project as funder, consultant or partner.

## Why it matters (Livingston County, Michigan)
- The county needs roughly 16,000 new homes by 2035 to meet demand (Housing Needs Analysis by ECOnorthwest, commissioned by Community Catalysts with the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce and the EDC of Livingston County).

## Efforts and sub-brands
- **CC Development Company** — the non-profit development company (formed January 2020) that acquires, finances and builds attainable housing.
- **Bethel Suites** — a 14-unit transitional home in Howell, converted from a dilapidated motel, providing housing, food and wraparound services. Guests stay about 9 months; over 60% have jobs; about 70% move into permanent housing they can afford.
- **Bethel Homes** — a neighborhood of two- and three-bedroom attainable starter homes on Burkhart Road in Howell Township, held in Livingston County's first community land trust so the homes stay attainable for future buyers.
- **Housing Catalysts** — the countywide Livingston County housing initiative Community Catalysts leads with community partners.
